Dayton Ohio news August 12, 2015

So what are your thoughts of the city of Dayton closing down a local hookah establishment? I think the city of Dayton should focus on crime instead of shutting down businesses that create jobs, because the city of Dayton this seems like as losing jobs left and right. Give me your thoughts.
The City of Dayton is shutting down a local hookah establishment. 2 NEWS’ Jordan Bowen spoke to the manager of Hookah Star and Smoke Shop, and he told him he plans to appeal the city’s decision to shut him down. The store was given a cease of occupancy order yesterday from the City of Dayton, but remained open. Police then showed up last night and forced customers to leave and the owner to close. The shop has is now closed and the manager told me today he doesn’t plan to re-open anytime soon.He says he plans appeal to the city’s order, which deems the hookah bar a ‘night club’, which would require them  to have a specificpermit.“ Credits: City forces hookah bar to close; manager plans to appeal decision
So are you happy that the city of Dayton shows a veteran to be the assistant chief of police, instead of hiring somebody from the outside. Sometimes fresh blood is healthy, but also at the same time experience does say a lot to keep some stability and experience. Hopefully major Ecton will do a excellent job for the city of Dayton.
Maj. Mark Ecton has been appointed assistant chief of the Dayton Police Department and will start his new role Aug. 17, the city said in a prepared statement released late Wednesday afternoon.
Ecton replaces Col. Robert Chabali, who retired earlier this year after serving more than 35 years.
Ecton, a lifelong resident of Dayton, is a 29-year veteran of the police department, joining in September 1987. He began his career as a patrol officer in the West Patrol Operations Division, serving in the same neighborhood where he went to school and grew up.

Area employers in Dayton are standing up to marijuana, forming the Dayton Regional Employers Against Marijuana (DREAM) Coalition. The group will represent local business owners' concerns that could become reality if marijuana is legalized in Ohio.

The group, Responsible Ohio, is working toward a constitutional amendment to legalize recreational and medical use of marijuana. The DREAM Coalition is a grassroots movement to stop the proposed amendment. Group members said marijuana hurts local business productivity, safety and will increase hiring costs.

"Many of our companies today operate on pennies on the dollar," said Kevin Burch, President of Jet Express, Inc. Burch is the chair of the DREAM Coalition. "The perception and the image that's important to so many of us in our businesses today will be jeopardized."

According to a survey conducted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce in June 2015, more than 68 percent of local businesses said they are not in favor of the amendment as proposed.

“Our members have spoken and we hear them loud and clear,” said Phil Parker, President & CEO of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. Credits: Newly Created DREAM Coalition Standing Against Legalizing Marijuana in Ohio

Two unidentified males robbed the Dragon City Restaurant, 3031 N. Gettysburg Ave., at gunpoint around dinnertime Tuesday.
The owner told police the two robbers entered the restaurant shortly before 6 p.m., one pointed a gun at her head and the other pointed a gun at her 14-year-old son, who was standing by the register, according to the Dayton police report.
The owner told officers they demanded she open the door to get behind the counter, but she was too scarred and was unable to do it, according to the report.

These men that robbed the Dragon city restaurant need to be found and held accountable to the highest extent of the law. City of Dayton really needs to get a handle crime, and people need to be held to the highest extent of the law, and be put in prison for some time.
